Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Moon Lab LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company with its registered office at 145 Tremont Street, Suite 201, Boston, MA (“Moon Lab,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use the FilterAlternative® platform (the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create a free account, we collect your email address, your country, and your work role; your name is optional. We do not collect or store a password — sign-in is by one-time email code (OTP) only.
Usage information. We log the manufacturer part numbers and search filters you submit, the results returned, and basic technical data (IP address, timestamps, approximate rate of requests) needed to run the search service, prevent abuse, and enforce the anonymous- and free-tier search limits described in our Terms of Service.
Payment information. If you purchase a search-credit pack, payment is processed directly by Stripe, Inc. We never receive or store your full card number — only a payment confirmation and the resulting credit balance on your account.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- operate the search service and return your results;
- authenticate you via one-time email codes and maintain your session;
- track and enforce free-search and purchased-credit balances;
- detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and automated scraping of the database;
- send you transactional email (OTP codes, purchase confirmations); and
- comply with our legal and tax obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The Service uses one essential, first-party HttpOnly cookie to keep you signed in between visits. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only with the service providers necessary to run the Service, currently:
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing for search-credit purchases;
- our transactional email provider — delivery of one-time sign-in codes.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Moon Lab, our users, or others. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Data retention
We retain account and search-history information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet our legal, tax, and fraud-prevention obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time (see “Your rights” below).
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the address below; we will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, role-scoped database access, and audit logging of account and administrative actions — to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to, and should not be used by, anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
